About Darrell
Attended Locke High School in Los Angeles California where he played baseball with Hall of Fame players Eddie Murray and Ozzie Smith.
Attended Arizona State University on a baseball scholarship and helped them win a national championship by pitching a 3-hit SHUT-OUT in the semi-finals of the 1977 NCAA College World Series
Signed a professional contract with the Minnesota Twins after being drafted in the 9th Round
In his first professional game while pitching for the Orlando Twins, he pitched a no-hitter.
After pitching just 10 minor league games, he was called up on June 3, 1978 to the Major Leagues and won his first Major League start against the Detroit Tigers.
Pitched for 5 years in the Major Leagues before his career ended at the age of 27 years old due to an arm injury.
From 1983 to 1986, he went through major depression and substance abuse due to the loss of his career.
In 1986, he received treatment for his addiction and depression and began his road to recovery.
From 1986 to today, he has remained free from all mind altering substances and has dedicated his life to helping the youth.
Darrell founded and incorporated the 10-20 Club and has worked with thousands of teens since 1988.
He is currently president and founder of the 10-20 Club Inc. - a program that works with youth who are 10 to 20 years of age.
He has worked as an independent contractor with the Downey Unified School District since 1995.
As a result of his efforts, he has received a number of awards and has been recognized as a leader in providing services to the at-risk community.
He has been married since 1999 and is a father to two daughters.
